Italian inventor Andrea Rossi has been granted an patent for his energy catalyzer or E-cat. The Italian Patent Office, Ufficio Italiano Brevetti e Marchi, granted a patent for the energy catalyzer on April 6, 2011, valid through April 9, 2028.  The official document lists the inventor as Andrea Rossi, while his wife Maddalena Pascucci is the patent owner.
It is not clear if the patent means that the secret details of the energy catalyst will finally be made public.

“Now I have to think and, based on the effective patent protection, we can decide what to disclose,” Andrea Rossi said.

I find it odd that Rossi is deciding what to disclose, when his patent application as made public 18 months ago (and he knew that):

If there are other hidden details that are not in that patent application, he can’t use his patent to protect those details.
